Day One: Welcome Pizza Party at Villa Catignano

Georgie and Ryan’s destination wedding began exactly as a celebration in Tuscany should: outside, around a table, with good food and the people they had travelled to Italy to be with.

The Welcome Pizza Party took place in Villa Catignano’s back garden.

As evening arrived over the Tuscan countryside, guests gathered for wood-fired pizza, local wine and an intentionally relaxed first night.

The second day was the heart of the celebration.

Our design direction was intentionally understated.

Villa Catignano already has such a strong visual identity that we didn’t want the wedding design to compete with it. Instead, the floral styling remained organic and restrained, allowing the historic architecture, gardens, olive trees and surrounding Tuscan landscape to remain part of the experience.

It is an approach we often favour when planning weddings in historic Tuscan villas: understanding when to add and, just as importantly, when to allow the venue itself to speak.

Wedding Ceremony in Villa Catignano’s Italian Gardens

The ceremony took place in Villa Catignano’s beautiful Italian gardens.

Surrounded by greenery and the classical details of the estate, Georgie and Ryan exchanged their vows in an intimate outdoor setting naturally connected to the character of Tuscany.

Following the ceremony, guests remained in the gardens for the aperitivo.

Prosecco and cocktails were served outside as everyone relaxed into the late afternoon before moving to the next part of the celebration.

Keeping the ceremony and aperitivo within the gardens also created a natural progression through the property, allowing guests to experience Villa Catignano gradually rather than revealing every space at once.

Wedding Dinner in Villa Catignano’s Historic Courtyard

As evening arrived, guests moved into the historic courtyard of Villa Catignano for dinner.

The atmosphere changed completely.

The enclosed stone architecture created a more intimate environment, while festoon lights overhead and candlelight across the tables transformed the courtyard as daylight disappeared.

Here, guests sat down for a multi-course dinner prepared by Italian Taste Lodovichi.

Food is always an essential part of a destination wedding in Tuscany, but during a three-day celebration it becomes even more important. Each event needs its own rhythm and character while still feeling connected to the overall experience.

From the relaxed pizza party on the first evening to the wedding banquet in the courtyard, the catering became part of that progression.

Day Three: Farewell BBQ & Pool Party

After the celebrations of the previous evening, the third day returned to the relaxed atmosphere with which the weekend had begun.

Everyone gathered again in Villa Catignano’s back garden for a Farewell BBQ & Pool Party.

Italian Taste Lodovichi prepared grilled Tuscan dishes, seasonal salads and refreshing drinks while guests spent the day outside, enjoying the pool and talking about the night before.

There was no need for another formal event.

The purpose of the final day was simply to give Georgie and Ryan more time with the people who had travelled to Tuscany to celebrate with them.

And that is one of the greatest advantages of organising a three-day destination wedding in Tuscany.

Instead of concentrating everything into a few hours, the celebration becomes a journey: guests arrive together, experience the wedding and then have time to enjoy one final day before saying goodbye.
